Chroma Valleys HD — A Complimentary Pack

Chroma Valleys HD is a fan-made complementary resource pack for Chroma Hills HD, created to expand the original pack with newer Minecraft content, compatibility fixes, and updated Bedrock support.

It is designed as an overlay, not a replacement. Chroma Valleys only overrides resources that require new artwork or compatibility work. Everything else is allowed to fall through naturally to the original Chroma Hills HD pack underneath it.

A legitimate copy of Chroma Hills HD is required for the intended experience.

What Chroma Valleys HD Adds

Chroma Valleys extends the Chroma Hills visual style to newer Minecraft content while also repairing older textures that no longer align correctly with modern Bedrock geometry, Actions & Stuff, Chroma Visuals, or Vibrant Visuals.

Major additions and compatibility work include:

  • Copper content: Copper Golem and oxidation states, copper tools and armor, copper horse armor, copper nugget, copper bars, chains, lanterns, chests, lightning rods, updated copper assets, and supporting PBR/MERS resources.

  • Nautilus family: Nautilus, Baby Nautilus, Zombie Nautilus, Coral Zombie Nautilus, saddle, armor variants, spawn eggs, items, particles, geometry, and animation support.

  • Sulfur content: Sulfur Cube variants, sulfur blocks, polished/chiseled sulfur, sulfur bricks, potent sulfur, sulfur spikes, bucket, spawn egg, particles, and animations.

  • Newer mobs and content: Parched, Camel Husk, Golden Dandelion, newer music-disc presentation assets, command-block minecart artwork, shelves, Cinnabar content, newer spawn eggs, and additional supporting UI/entity resources.

  • Spears and newer equipment, including Chroma-style item and in-world presentation.

  • HUD compatibility, including Chroma-style Hardcore, Wither, and Gold/Absorption hearts.

  • Vibrant Visuals and Chroma Visuals compatibility, including Tall Grass, crops, Dark Oak bark, Copper Tools, Copper Lanterns, and related rendering corrections.

Baby Mob Overhaul

One of the largest parts of Chroma Valleys HD is its extensive baby-mob compatibility rebuild.

Many older Chroma Hills textures were never designed for newer Bedrock baby geometry or for the custom models used by Actions & Stuff 1.11. Chroma Valleys adds dedicated textures, UV corrections, geometry adjustments, and compatibility work for a large portion of Minecraft's baby mobs.

Supported mobs include rabbits, sheep, cows, Mooshrooms, goats, pigs, chickens, bees, foxes, armadillos, dolphins, squid, Glow Squid, horses, donkeys, mules, Skeleton Horses, Zombie Horses, cats, ocelots, wolves, llamas, axolotls, Snifflets, camels, Hoglins, Zoglins, Sea Turtles, pandas, Polar Bears, Striders, Villagers, Zombies, Piglins, Zombified Piglins, and Zombie Villagers.

These are not simply reduced versions of the adult textures. Many required individual repairs to backs, bellies, paws, feet, eyes, snouts, collars, endcaps, appendages, overlays, or model UVs.

Notable examples include rebuilt wolf puppies and tamed collars, corrected Panda and Polar Bear cub geometry, repaired Baby Strider appendages, corrected Piglin/Zombified Piglin snout and limb UVs, and dedicated humanoid baby compatibility.

Actions & Stuff Compatibility

Chroma Valleys includes targeted compatibility work for Actions & Stuff 1.11 — SP0 / Custom Experience.

The goal is to retain Actions & Stuff's custom models and animations while allowing Chroma Hills-style HD textures to line up correctly with them.

Compatibility work covers numerous mobs and entities including cows, Mooshrooms, sheep, rabbits, chickens, bees, horses, camels, Villagers, Piglins, Zombified Piglins, Striders, Iron Golem and Bogged overlays, minecarts, and other newer entity routes.

This includes fixes for problems that only appear when Actions & Stuff is active, such as specialized baby geometry, texture positioning, model UV differences, and Zombified Piglin facial alignment.

Chroma Visuals & Vibrant Visuals Compatibility

Chroma Valleys also includes compatibility work for players combining Chroma Hills with Chroma Visuals and Minecraft's Vibrant Visuals rendering.

Current fixes include crop textures, custom two-block Tall Grass and its item texture, Dark Oak bark routing, Copper Tool rendering, Copper Lantern emissive behavior, and other assets that would otherwise lose their Chroma Hills appearance or render incorrectly.

Chroma Hills HD itself does not currently provide complete native Vibrant Visuals support, so Chroma Valleys bridges compatibility where practical while preserving the intended Chroma Hills look.

Resolution Support

Both Chroma Hills HD resolutions are supported:

128x — subpack 12
64x — subpack 64

The 64x version has received its own cleanup pass rather than relying entirely on automatic downscaling. This corrected artifacts on assets including Copper Golem textures, horse armor, equipment, spears, saddles, Nautilus content, spawn eggs, Copper items, and Sulfur Cube resources.

Clean Fall-Through Design

Chroma Valleys deliberately avoids overriding broad Bedrock texture catalogs when it does not need to.

If Chroma Valleys does not provide a specific replacement, Chroma Hills HD remains responsible for that resource.

That also prevents the complementary pack from unnecessarily redistributing unchanged Chroma Hills assets.

That means existing Chroma Hills assets such as Bundles, Happy Ghast content, newer vegetation, bookshelves, and other supported textures can continue to display directly from Chroma Hills whenever no compatibility override is necessary.

Pack Order

For the intended experience, use:

1. Chroma Valleys HD — A Complimentary Pack
2. Chroma Hills HD
3. Chroma Visuals (when used)
4. Actions & Stuff 1.11 — SP0 / Custom Experience (when used)
5. Minecraft / Vanilla resources

Chroma Valleys should remain above Chroma Hills so its newer-content and compatibility corrections can take priority while everything else falls through to Chroma Hills normally.

Known Limitation

One remaining issue has been identified as originating primarily within Actions & Stuff itself: lead/leash attachment positioning on certain adult mobs, particularly the Bee and possibly some Fox configurations.

Attempts to correct this entirely from the Chroma Valleys resource layer caused additional problems, so those experimental overrides are intentionally not included.

Chroma Valleys HD brings newer Minecraft content into the Chroma Hills visual style while repairing modern Bedrock, Actions & Stuff, Chroma Visuals, and Vibrant Visuals compatibility — without trying to replace the original Chroma Hills HD experience.

Known limitation

One issue was determined to originate inside Actions & Stuff itself rather than Chroma Hills: lead/leash attachment positioning on some adult mobs, particularly the adult Bee/possibly Fox configuration when Actions & Stuff is active. Attempts to repair the Bee lead entirely from the Chroma Valleys resource layer were unsuccessful, so those experimental overrides were not included in the finished pack.

Everything else that reached the approved/locked state during the compatibility project is incorporated into this release.

That is essentially the complete story of what Chroma Valleys HD adds: newer Chroma-style content, a very large baby-mob compatibility overhaul, targeted Actions & Stuff repairs, resolution cleanup, and a clean fall-through system that leaves the original Chroma Hills HD assets alone whenever no override is necessary.
